Today in 1912
Do you recognize some of the buildings in the image above? Who knew they were all waterfront property?
Today (27th August) marks the 100th anniversary of the Great Norwich Flood of 1912. So much rain fell that the River Wensum burst its banks and several square miles of the city, mainly in the Heigham, Oak Street and Fishergate areas in the north of Norwich, were inundated for several days.
The photo above shows Magdalen Street during this great calamity!
