Hot off the press....the 2013 programme.

With 13 days to go and counting the 2013 programme is hot off the press.
What will YOU chose to see and do??

Natalie Lake

This young and talented folk musician sure has a bright future ahead of her! At only 19, she's performed in the Cambridge Folk Festival and Latitude Festival, not to mention a heap of gigs around the Norwich area. At such a young age, she's furrowing a grand future for herself.

Her music is acoustic folk. On occasions it's soothing and melodic, and others it's the kind where you just can't stop your feet from dancing. It's reminiscent of 'Of Monsters and Men', 'Daughter', and 'Colbie Calliat'. She also has some great covers of songs by 'Florence and the Machine' amongst others.

Buying her first guitar at 13, Natalie has since gone on to buy electric, a ukulele and wants to get a banjo! She plays with the different instruments to get different feels for songs.

A hit not to miss at Magdalen St. Celebrations!

Natalie Lake will be performing at The Acoustic Stage

Puppet Magic

Norwich Puppet Theatre is a unique treasure in Norfolk. Situated in one of the beautiful medieval buildings in the centre of Norwich city, this amazing little theatre is dedicated and proud to create, present and support puppetry on an International scale. They have had performances from countries such as Hungary and Slovenia! They also produce their own performances and go on tour!

The Puppet Theatre isn't just for kids, but for adults as well. Of course they have fun, magical shows which are most enjoyable to watch (especially if you're a big kid) such as Fireside Tales with Granddad and the Princess and the Pea (their upcoming shows).

They also have masterclasses led by industry professionals for people seeking development opportunities. They have a vast range of activities with workshops, puppet making, mask making, acoustics, films, visual poetry workshops amongst many others which are carried out throughout the year.

Make sure to check out what these guys can create at Magdalen St. Celebrations!!

Click here to see what they're all about!

Norwich Puppet Theatre will be hosting puppet making workshops for kids during the festival at St. Augustine's Hall from 10-5.

Bikes and Bagels and Cakes and Coffee, Oh My!

The Dandy Horse takes a whole new spin on the coffee experience. Not just for cycling enthusiasts, this relatively new cafe was opened in March this year by a couple who share a common love for cycling, coffee and great food!

The place itself has a workshop where a guy by the name of Spokes will fix your bike while you sip over T-Rex's, Spokes' partner, cup of home brew coffee or choose from a selection of freshly home made bagels, soups and cakes. Alternatively go upstairs where there is a large cinema screening room and couches with board games and books. The walls are decorated with cycling influenced arworks from local artists. The cafe also sells cycling influenced jewelry- necklaces and earrings made out of old bike chains. The couple are truly head over wheels about cycling!!

As a former event organiser, T-Rex has combined this work with her love of cycling. The Dandy Horse is host to a range of events from social rides, acoustic nights, rolla racing competitions and many other interesting activities.

The workshop is run by Spokes, who has over ten years experience in building and fixing bikes. He has worked in the cycling industry, fixed bikes in his garage, ran events at Dr.Bike and worked as an African partner liaison at Re-Cycle. I don't think there's a repair he couldn't fix!

So whether you're a cycling enthusiast, a coffee addict, a foodie or just keen to chill out on a sofa, make sure you say hey to this delightful duo (and the cute Nia, the cafe dog) during the festival!

Check them out here

The Dandy Horse will be open from 10-5 on the day of the Festival offering bages, bike maintenance, films and even a bike raffle! 27 Magdalen St. Norwich.

Jake Morrell

Who is Jake Morrell? Well, he’s the lead singer of a band of his name whose music so touching and catchy, you’ll be glad you caught them at Magdalen St. Celebrations. The band of four touches on a range of subjects from love and break ups to the past, memories and stories.

Their music has a country/folk feel with hints of English pop such as Keane, Mumford and Sons and Noah and the Whale. The group of talented musicians tend to draw on life experiences. In some cases, the songs are beautifully uplifting and joyful; while the ballads are heartrending and passionate. For such a new band, it is impressive how sentimental these four guys are!

This new band has certainly achieved a lot in a short space of time. This year they had a successful time performing in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they had a great experience in front of large crowds. They sold over 200 CDs and had a whole tone of fun! They’ve performed in bars across the country, released new videos, been on BBC Radio with Steven Bumfrey, were the support band for “Brand New Heavies’, amongst many other great accomplishments. You can't help but think where they're going next?!

Make sure to catch this lively band at Magdalen St. Celebrations!

Jake Morrell will be performing at the King of Hearts acoustic stage. To find out more about Jake Morrell, visit the website here
